CDC Releases Intimate Partner Violence Report

An excellent new resource for background and data on what is a public health as well as a criminal justice problem--domestic and intimate partner violence--is now available from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Based on a nationally representative, random survey of over 16,500 adults (both women and men) conducted in 2010, Intimate Partner Violence in the United States - 2010 is now freely available on the CDC website.  A publication of the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Division of Violence Prevention, the report covers the prevalence, frequency, demographics, and the impact in terms of physical and mental health, of physical and sexual violence, stalking, and psychological aggression by an intimate partner.  Anyone interested in domestic violence issues or related research should check out this new report.

UN Secretary-General's Database on Violence Against Women

The UN Secretary General's Database on Violence Against Women contains information about violence against women and the measures taken by various countries to combat this violence. The advanced search feature allows you to search by type of measure taken, the form of violence and by country. It also has a profiles on several countries that outline that country's legal framework, policies and strategies, institutional mechanisms, services and preventative measures and statistics related to violence against women.
