Secret studying hideaway
Need a super quiet place to study? I get my best contemplation done on the lower level, down the stairs by Room 104. There is a bank of carrels there by the stairs that hardly anyone uses. Shh! - don't give away the secret.

Those Song Lyrics--Now You Know
From my comfy spot in the library, I've noticed that some stress-reducing ideas for quick study breaks might be helpful these days. Just in time for exam period, Yahoo! has teamed up with Gracenote, a leader in digital entertainment technology, to provide easily searchable lyrics to about 400,000 songs on its Yahoo!Music web site. Are there any popular song lyrics-- from Motown to Metallica--that you never did understand, just can’t remember, or have disputed with your friends? Now all you need to do is use the new Yahoo!Music search engine by selecting "lyrics" in the drop down menu and typing the title or a few words you remember. Yahoo!Music will produce the full lyrics as published for any song in the database that matches your search. When you need a few minutes' escape from the law, give it a try.

DisabilityInfo.gov
DisabilityInfo.gov is an online resource for people with disabilities. After the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was passed into legislation, George H. W. Bush created the New Freedom Initiative which instructed Federal agencies to work together and put together a comprehensive web site to give people a single access point online for resources related to disabilities.

New Site for International Court of Justice
Here's some good news for students working with international law topics, research papers and sources. Last week, at the close of its 60th anniversary year, the International Court of Justice launched a new, greatly expanded user-friendly web site. Found at the usual address, but with five times more information than the old site, the ICJ site now makes available in full-text all of its jurisprudence since 1946, plus that of its predecessor, the Permanent Court of International Justice (PCIJ). All decisions and advisory opinions in English and French (some in PDF) , a clear and helpful site map and FAQ page, basic documents of the United Nations and the court, a powerful search engine and navigation tools, plus a photo gallery--these features make the new site of this United Nations world court both easy to navigate and a great online resource. Take a look.

Bad Answers, Good Answers and Terrific Answers
In February, shortly after most law students received their first semester grades, a wonderful posting appeared in the blog "The Volokh Conspiracy" titled Bad Answers, Good Answers and Terrific Answers. Eugene Volokh, Professor at UCLA Law School, is the founder and coauthor of the blog, which is also authored currently by 17 other professors.
This article/posting is unique in that it does not give abstract guidance on taking exams. It actually gives sample questions and then sample answers and discusses each answer and why each answer is good, bad, great, etc.

Historical Crime tips
A good friend of mine, Cloud, the most attractive white cat you have ever seen, is a bit of a history and crime buff. She gave me a great tip about The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London, 1674-1834 . You can search texts of the "non-elite people . . . , containing accounts of over 100,000 criminal trials held at London's central criminal court." The cases range from "stealing a Silver Pint Mug" to "Trespass, in Cursing and speaking several false and seditious Words against his Majesty, and for drinking the Pretender's Health".
Thanks, Cloud!
