Don't Miss 'Activist New York'

Summer for law students is almost over, but Activist New York is ongoing and would be a great way to spend a few hours in Manhattan this fall, as the Hofstra campus looks forward to hosting another  Presidential Debate. The first exhibit ever shown in the Museum of the City of New York's new Puffin Foundation Gallery, Activist New York features photos, artifacts, and interactive installations demonstrating how citizen activism--social, religious, and political--has shaped New York City from the seventeenth century to the present.  Fourteen protest eras and issues are featured, from religious freedom for Quakers in colonial times to the present-day conflict over the building of an Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero.  Abolition and women's voting rights are represented, along with conservative activism, the civil rights, gay rights, and historic preservation movements, and more.  Enjoy!
