Should Radio Stations Pay to Play?
This week, the House Judiciary Committee will consider H.R. 848. The bill would require AM and FM radio stations to pay royalties to songwriters when their material is played on the radio.
In a related bill, S. 379 requires fair compensation to artists for use of their sound recordings by satellite, Internet and cable stations.
